We're a small studio. On purpose.
Next Smile Studio is a four-person design and engineering studio in the Netherlands. We work with startups and scaleups on websites, web apps, and mobile apps. We take a small number of projects each year, and we work on them end-to-end.
We started the studio because most agency work we'd been part of felt designed around the agency, not the client. We wanted a different shape.
Four rules we don't break.
- 01We don't take on more than three projects at a time.
- 02We push back when we think you're wrong.
- 03We write code our future selves can read.
- 04We don't do logo design, ad campaigns, or SEO consulting.
How a project actually runs.
Discover
We talk to you, your team, and at least three of your users. We pick apart the brief and write our own version of it. If we agree at the end of the week, we keep going. If we don't, we say so.
Design
Design isn't decoration; it's the place we figure out the product. We start with the screens we're most likely to get wrong and build out from there.
Build
Production code from day one. Every Friday you get a working URL with the week's progress and a short note explaining what we did and why.
Hand-off
On the last day we walk your team through the codebase, hand over written docs, and decide together what (if anything) we keep doing.
